Meteors triumphant over Panthers with 5 – 2 win

The Fort Erie Meteors were triumphant Saturday night in GOJHL hockey action with a 5 – 2 win over the Pelham Panthers in Fort Erie.

Fort Erie took the lead with a goal by Daylon Groulx at 0:45 in the first period, assists went to Jordan Russell and Bryan Zurowski. Cail Cirillo scored another for the Meteors at 5:52, assists went to Byrce Martin and Michael Fazio. Daylon Groulx’s second goal at 7:14, assisted by Andrew Somerville and Danny Katic, gave the Meteors a 3 – 0 lead that took them to the end of the period.

Pelham’s Giusten Annetta put the Panthers on the scoreboard at 11:02 in the second period, assisted by Kurt Villani and Mathiau Young. Jordan Russell of Fort Erie knocked one in at 11:54, assisted by Cail Cirillo and Alex McAteer. The score was 4 – 1 for the Meteors at the end of the second.

Pelham’s Samson Sholten scored their second goal at 5:16, in the third period, assisted by Kurt Villani and London Murray. Fort Erie’s Bryan Zurowski scored on the power plahy at 9:56, assisted by Danny Katic and Daylon Groulx, giving the Meteors the 5 – 2 win.

Fort Erie is next in action Sunday Dec. 18 in Welland against the Junior Canadians at 7 p.m. They then take on the Regals in Buffalo on Tuesday Dec. 20. They return to home ice after the Christmas break on Wednesday Jan. 4 at 7:15 p.m. against the Ancaster Avalanche.

The Pelham Panthers are now on a break until the New Year facing the Buffalo Regals on Tuesday Jan. 03 in Buffalo.
