Meteors’ week ends with two losses to Avalanche

The Fort Erie Meteors met with the Ancaster Avalanche twice this week in GOJHL hockey action. The Meteors lost in both encounters.

In Ancaster Thursday Feb. 8/2018 the Meteors lost 4 – 3 in overtime

Ancaster took the lead in the first period scoring one goal. The Meteors came back with three goals in the second finishing the period with a 3 – 1 lead. Ancaster came back with two more goals in the third period forcing the game into overtime. Ancaster won with their fourth goal just 3:51 into the overtime period.

The Meteor goals came from Marco Larriccia, Even Meller and Alex McAteer.

In Fort Erie Saturday Feb. 10/2018, Ancaster won 7 – 2.

Ancaster scored three unanswered goals in the first period for a 3 – 0 lead. In the second they doubled their goal count finishing with a 6 – 0 lead. In the third, Fort Erie scored two goals to Ancaster’s one.

Alex McAteer scored both Meteor goals.

The Fort Erie Meteors hold the eighth place position in the Golden Horseshoe standings, the Ancaster Avalanche are in third place. For up-to-date statistics see the GOJHL website: http://pointstreaksites.com/view/gojhl .

The Fort Erie Meteors will next be in action Sunday Feb. 17/2018 in Fort Erie against the Caledonia Corvairs, puck drop is 7:15 p.m.
