Meteors win fifth sortie with Junior Canadians

The Fort Erie Meteors were victorious in their fifth meeting this season with the Welland Junior Canadians winning 3 – 1 Saturday, Feb. 16/2019 at the Leisureplex in Fort Erie.

Welland was first on the scoreboard with Kellan Rosenbaum’s goal at 13:09 in the first period. Marco Lariccia tied it up for the Meteors less than 40 seconds later.

The second period was scoreless

Drew Passero connected at 12:38 in the third period at 12:38 and Marco Lariccia sealed the deal with his second goal of the night at 16:27.

The Junior Canadians have won three times so far this season against the Meteors, the Meteors now have two wins in the season matchups.

The Meteors won the last encounter 4 – 3 on Dec. 23/2018, the Junior Canadian won 4 – 3 on Dec. 15/2018, 5 – 2 on Nov. 4/2018 and 4 – 3 on Sept. 16/2018.

In action earlier this week, the Fort Erie Meteors lost 3 – 2 to the Niagara Falls Canucks on Friday, Feb. 15/2019, and 4 – 3 after two overtime periods to the Lockport Regals on Wednesday, Feb. 13/2019.

The Meteors are next in action Monday Feb. 18/2019 (Family Day) at 3:30 p.m. at the Leisureplex against the Thorold Blackhawks.

The Welland Junior Canadians lost 4 – 1 last Sunday, Feb. 10/2019, against the Hamilton Kilty Bs in Welland. They are next on ice Sunday Feb. 17/2019 on home ice against the Pelham Panthers at 7 p.m.
