Modifieds Return to Humberstone for Pete Cosco Memorial

cosco3PORT COLBORNE, ONTARIO (August 22, 2016) This coming Sunday night (August 28) at the Humberstone Speedway is the second annual Pete Cosco Memorial for the DIRTcar Modifieds. This event is in honor and memory of Pete Cosco, who passed away two years ago.

“Last years event was strictly a 358 Modified event and this year we have decided to allow the Big Block Modifieds to come up and compete” stated Clinton Geoffrey, Humberstone Speedway’s Director of Race Night Operations. The Big Blocks will be going head to head against the best 358 Modified drivers that the Niagara Region and Western New York has to offer.

Gates will be opening at 4:30pm Sunday with racing getting underway at 6:30pm sharp for the six division show presented by CAA Niagara.

The 75 lap Pete Cosco Memorial for the Modifieds will be paying $4017 to the winner, $1000 for second, $900 for third, $800 for fourth, $700 for fifth and so on back to 10th place paying out $250. The race will pay $200 for 11th on back. Bonus money and lap sponsorship money are also up for grabs for the Modifieds. Each of the Humberstone weekly divisions will also be running for lap sponsorship money as well.

For the second year in a row, CAA Niagara will be presenting the racing action that will also feature a full card of DIRTcar Sportsman, RUSH Late Models, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and Pro 4 Trucks as they continue to battle their way towards the 2016 track championships. CAA members are encouraged to reserve their $7.50 admission tickets by logging on to and filling out the form. Members must show their CAA Members cards at the ticket office to get the discounted tickets.

Last year’s event saw an epic battle throughout the event between Erick Rudolph and Mat Williamson with Rudolph getting the upper hand late and Rudolph, a third generation driver from Ransomville, NY went on to score the victory in the inaugural event.  Williamson settled for second with Chad Brachmann, Mark D’llario and Tommy Flannigan completed the top five. Brad Rouse, Dennis Lunger Jr, Jason Fontaine, Mike Toovey and Evan Curtis won the Pete Cosco Memorial events for the Sportsman, Late Models, Street Stocks, Pro 4 Trucks and Mini Stocks respectively.
