New director of finance appointed at Niagara’s truly local credit union

PenFinancial’s new director of finance Shari Sekel.

PenFinancial Credit Union is very pleased to announce the appointment of Shari Sekel as the new Director of Finance at PenFinancial, effective, May 15, 2017.

Shari joins PenFinancial from Brock University, where she has held various senior leadership positions, including an Associate Director role in Strategic Initiatives and Special Projects. Shari is Chartered Professional Accountant and also a Brock graduate, with Bachelor of Accounting and Master of Accountancy degrees. A proud PenFinancial member since 1985, Shari held volunteer positions on the credit union’s Board of Directors and Audit Committee in the past and continues to be a loyal advocate for the co-operative movement and the credit union.

“Shari’s strong co-operative values, along with with her specialized education, outstanding leadership skills and experience, made it abundantly clear that she’ll be a wonderful addition to the leadership team at our truly local credit union,” said Ken Janzen, PenFinancial’s Chief Executive Officer.

A lifelong resident of Niagara, Shari lives in St. Catharines with her husband Josh and daughter Sophie. In her spare time, Shari enjoys spending time with her family and supporting Niagara small businesses like the 4Cats Art Studio where she enjoys creating great art and Yoga by Sarah where she embraces inner yogi.
