The New to You Thrift Store has decided that it’s the children who need an investment as they recently presented nine $1,000 cheques to different Welland schools for their nutrition programs.

“Every year the Board of Directors designate money for the store to donate back to the community,” said New to You manager Margaret Manwarring. “Once again my volunteers voted to donate to the school nutrition programs in nine schools in the vicinity of the store.  We gave nine schools $1,000.00 each.”

“When schools provide nutrition programs, children benefit. Kids who eat well, learn well,” she said.

Diamond Trail Public School, St. Mary Catholic School, École Champlain, École élémentaire Catholique Saint-François-d’Assise, Plymouth Public School, Princess Elizabeth Public School. Eastdale Secondary School, St. Andrews Catholic, and School Secondary Confédération were the recipients of this year’s donation.

The store is run by a small group of committed volunteers who are trying to make a difference in the community.
