Niagara Light of Hope coming to Wainfleet Thursday

NIagara Light of Hope

Township of Wainfleet press release –  – During the month of May, Niagara’s 12 municipalities, along with the Region, have joined in solidarity to support and inspire the residents of Niagara during the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In partnership with Production Service Industries (PSI) Niagara and the 2021 Canada Games Host Society, each municipality will be presenting the ‘Niagara Light of Hope’ in an effort to transmit a unified message of hope across the region.

The presentation will consist of a vibrant light show display to light up the night sky in each of Niagara’s municipalities as a symbol of hope and inspiration.

The display, including bright colour and the focusing of several beams into one, is intended to “represent the strength of our community,” according to PSI President Steven Vian, whose company is providing the display.

In addition to hope and inspiration to residents, the demonstration is intended as a visual tribute to the dedication and commitment of frontline workers who are continuing to work to serve the communities of Niagara.

“During some very challenging days, we continue to see people stepping up to play their role in the fight against COVID-19,” said Wainfleet Mayor Kevin Gibson. “Whether it’s frontline healthcare, municipal staff, first responders or residents complying with the advice of our Officers of Health, I’m extremely grateful to all essential workers and proud of the way people in Wainfleet, and across the region, have come together to overcome this pandemic with kindness and a sense of community.”

The Light of Hope will be displayed in Wainfleet on Thursday, May 14/2020, for one hour between 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. The display is weather dependent and could be rescheduled due to inclement weather (rain, snow, etc.).
