NRPS arrest two suspects from St. Catharines assault investigation

NRP LogoThe Niagara Regional Police Service has arrested two in connection with an assault that took place in St. Catharines on Monday, Feb. 10/2020.

Police responded a Cumberland St. and Grandview Dr. area home in St. Catharines around 2:30 a.m. Monday morning.

Police said there was an altercation between two males and the male homeowner during which a handgun was shown. There were no injuries reported in the altercation.

“Further investigation by detectives has resulted in the arrest of two males involved in this incident as well as a robbery at the downtown St. Catharines bus terminal later that morning,” a Niagara Regional Police Service press release said.

18-year-old Triztin Stevens of St. Catharines was arrested and charged with:

  • Robbery (firearm) contrary to section 344(1)(a.1) of the Criminal Code
  • Assault with a Weapon contrary to section 267(a) of the CriminalCode
  • Robbery contrary to section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (202 0-12496)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code]

A 17-year-old male who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.  was also arrested and charged with:

  • Robbery with a Firearm contrary to section 344(1)(a.1) of the Criminal Code
  • Uttering Threats contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Robbery contrary to section 344(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to section 92(1) of the Criminal Code.
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code

Both males were being held in custody pending a Tuesday bail hearing.
