One win, one loss for Pelham this weekend

Pelham Panthers LogoAfter time off for the holidays, the Pelham Panthers returned to the ice this weekend. They picked up a 3 – 1 win over the Buffalo Regals Friday Jan. 5/2017 in Pelham, then lost 5 – 2 to the visiting St. Catharines Falcons Sunday Jan. 07.

In Friday’s 3 – 1 win over the Regals, Buffalo had a 1 – 0 lead at the end of the first period. A three goal effort in the second period brought Pelham the win. The third period was scoreless.

The Pelham goal scorers were:

  • Matt Ruigrok for two. Assists went to Connor Brown and Noah Caperchione for his first goal and Chris Webber and Adam Scholz for his second goal.
  • Chris Webber assisted by Jared Hill and Thomas Young.

In Sunday’s loss to St. Catharines, the Panthers started out with a two goal lead at the end of the first period. Their goals came from:

  • Francesco Gigliotti, assisted by Anthony Gigliotti and Trevor Meecham
  • Chris Webber, assisted by Ryan Ellis and Dante Tesoro

At the end of the second period the Falcons had tied it up with goals from:

  • Lucas Smilsky, unassisted
  • Michael Davies, assisted by Andrew Somerville and Jaleel Adams.

In the third period St. Catharines added three more goals. Lucas Smilsky scored two of the goals earning him a hat trick. Assists went to Tanner Main and Dakota Misckolczi on the first goal, the second was unassisted. The third goal came from Noah Perlic assisted by Dillon Lamarche and Tristan deJong.

In their next GOJHL hockey action the Pelham Panthers next game will face the Niagara Falls Canucks Sunday Jan. 14/2018 in Pelham at 2:30 p.m.  The St. Catharines Falcons will be in action next on Friday Jan. 12/2018 on home ice against the Buffalo Regals.
