Overnight snow expected to cause sloppy commute Wednesday

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement Tuesday Feb. 6/2018 calling for an overnight snow with accumulations of 10 – 15 cm throughout South Niagara.

“Snow is expected to begin overnight across much of the Niagara region. General snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm are likely by the time the snow tapers off Wednesday afternoon,” the statement said. “While snow amounts are expected to be below the snowfall warning criteria of 15 cm or more within 12 hours, the timing of the snowfall could affect road conditions and visibilities, especially during the Wednesday morning commute.”

The statement urges motorists to exercise caution during Wednesday’s commutes.

“The region is on the northwestern edge of a storm system that will mainly affect the American side of the border.”
