Panthers pick up 2-1 win over Blackhawks

The Pelham Panthers added a 2-1 win to their record Friday night against the Thorold Blackhawks in GOJHL Junior B action. This after a disheartening loss last Tuesday against the Niagara Falls Canucks in Pelham.

A hard fought first period ended with no score as Pelham outshot Thorold 14-7.

Pelham’s Caleb Mussat put them on the scoreboard at 11:31 in the second period, assisted by Jonah Noto and Mitch Rossit. Adam Petric added Pelham’s second goal at 12:56, assisted by Bryce Hoggard and Martin Nowysz. Thorold’s Anthony Merante picked up their goal at 19:57, unassisted, giving Pelham the 2-1 lead at the end of the second. Pelham outshot Thorold 15-14 for the period.

The third period saw no goals but, Pelham goalie Stephen Harvey kept the lead as Thorold outshot Pelham in the third period 16-8.

The Pelham Panthers next see action Saturday Dec. 5 against the Fort Erie Meteors in Fort Erie, then the Meteors come to Pelham Friday Dec. 11.
