Panthers win 5 – 3 over Falcons

Pelham Panthers LogoThe Pelham Panthers are having a winning weekend, after last night’s 5 – 1 win over the Junior Canadians, the Panthers beat the St. Catharines Falcons Sunday Oct. 29/2017 in GOJHL hockey action in Pelham.

Despite St. Catharines holding down the lead in the first and second periods, a third period comeback had the Panthers winning the game 5 – 3.

Lucas Smilsky scored the lone goal of the first period assisted by Jaleel Adams at 4:08 giving the Falcons the lead going into the second period.

Matt Ruigrok’s power play goal at 1:41 evened the score for the Panthers, assists went to Jared Hill and Noah Caperchione. Lucas Smilsky connected again, on the power play, putting St. Catharines ahead at 7:17, assists went to Michael Davies and Matt Busby. Pelham again evened the score with Brenden Bouvier’s goal at 14:37 assisted by Anthony Gigliotti and Peter Izzo. Carson Eden’s goal at 17:33 assisted by Evan Miller put the Falcons ahead 3 – 2 at the end of the second.

Pelham scored three unanswered goals to come back and take the game in the third period. Anthony Gigliotti led off the three goal come back at 1:46 assisted by Jared Hill and Andrew Rennie. Matt Ruigrok connected on the power play for his second goal of the game at 11:13, assists went to Adam Scholz and Zach Thompson. Francesco Gigliotti added a power play goal to top off Pelham’s come back at 17:04 assisted by Dante Tesoro and Jared Hill.

Pelham next sees action Tuesday Oct. 31/2017 in Buffalo against the Regals. They return home Sunday Nov. 5/2017 at 3 p.m. to face the Fort Erie Meteors.
