Police seize prescription medication and marijuana

Two St. Catharines residents face drug charges after Niagara Regional Police executed a search warrant on a Chelsea St. home Wednesday evening.
Police said members of the St. Catharines street crime unit had been investigating a male for selling drugs from his residence, as well as his vehicle, throughout September.
Wednesday, police were granted judicial authorization to enter and search the St. Catharines home.
“At approximately 7 p.m. officers observed the subject of the investigation leave his residence in his vehicle … he was followed and arrested. Police then attended the Chelsea St. residence and executed the search warrant. As a result of the search, officers seized a large amount of cash, prescription medication and marijuana,” a police press release said
Charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count of production of a controlled substance, one count of possession of proceeds over $5,000, and one count of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon is Alain Guitard, 59, and Johanne Drapeau, 48. 
In total, police located and seized $4,300 in prescription medication, $1,000 in marijuana, $17,080 in cash and a prohibited weapon.
Both Guitard and Drapeau will be attending a bail hearing on Thursday.
