Port Colborne’s Farmers’ Market remains closed until further notice due to COVID-19

City of Port Colborne press release – The Port Colborne Farmers’ Market typically enters its full operating season in May each year, however, in light of continuing concerns regarding COVID-19, the Port Colborne Farmers’ Market will remain closed until further notice.

In the upcoming weeks, the City of Port Colborne will work in consultation with Niagara Region Public Health and Farmers’ Markets Ontario to satisfy specific operational protocols and requirements in order to resume Farmers’ Market operations in Port Colborne during the upcoming season.

“Our community trusts our market to provide safe food in a safe environment,” said Ashley Grigg, director, community and economic development department. “We all play a part in keeping our community safe and we are continuing to work with our partners for a safe and gradual re-opening of services.”

The community’s access to local food suppliers is important and some Port Colborne vendors are getting creative by exploring deliveries and/or curbside pick-ups of pre-ordered items. If residents are looking for a Port Colborne vendor’s contact information, they can call our Customer Service Representatives at 905-835-2900.

Port Colborne residents looking for fresh produce are also encouraged to check out Small Scale Farms, who are working with local vendors to deliver fresh food to the community. Vendors can also apply to the program with the delivery cost on the customer side. So far, they are accepting orders for fresh produce, fresh meat and fresh mushrooms. Vendors can apply to have their products distributed by Small Scale Farms here: https://smallscalefarms.ca/pages/vendor-application.
