Remembrance Day services around South Niagara

Around South Niagara there will be Remembrance Day ceremonies at various locations Monday, Nov. 11/2019.

Port Colborne’s service has been moved to the upper hall of the Royal Canadian Legion in the city as there is expected inclement weather for tomorrow.

The City of Port Colborne has posted on its social media accounts: “Due to the forecasted inclement weather the Royal Canadian Legion, Port Colborne – Branch 56 Remembrance Day Ceremony will be moving from H.H.Knoll Lakeview Park to the Legion, 67 Clarence Street at 10:45 a.m.”

In Wainfleet, a ceremony will be held at the Wainfleet Cenotaph, corner of Park and Sugarloaf St. at 10:45 a.m.

The Town of Pelham will be holding a quiet ceremony at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 613 Fonthill Veterans Park, 141 Hwy. 20 E. at 10:45 a.m.

In Welland a community commemoration is taking place at the Welland Cenotaph at Chippawa Park from 10:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
In Ridgeway, a ceremony will be held at the Cenotaph at Crystal Ridge Cemetery at 11 a.m., the cemetery is located on the corner of Ridgeway Rd. and Farr Ave

In St. Catharines, veterans will be laying wreaths at the Honour Rolls and Watson Memorial at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24 Cenotaph, 15 George St. at 10:15 a.m.

Veterans and Legion members will then march through the downtown streets to the Cenotaph at Memorial Park at 11 a.m.. Then they leave city hall to the Cenotaph on St. Paul West.
