Leaves around noon Wednesday

The Draken Harald Hårfagre has docked in Port Colborne for the evening after navigating through the Welland Canal.

In a note posted to the City of Port Colborne’s Facebook account, Björn Ahlander, Ship Captain and CEO said that the ship was docking for the night in Port Colborne and for Wednesday “We will still have several crew available to answer questions on the wharf from 10am to 11am tomorrow.”

She is expected to set sail for Fairport at 12 noon.

The ship left Haugesund, Norway to voyage across the Atlantic Ocean celebrating the first transatlantic crossing and the Viking discovery of the New World more than a thousand years ago.

The Draken Harald Hårfagre navigated the canal with the Pride of Baltimore, both ships are en route to Fairport Harbour, Ohio for the Tall Ships Challenge Great Lakes 2016, July 8-10.

The Pride of Baltimore continued on to Fairport after navigating the canal.
