Soup’s On! Funding futures by sampling soup

Tickets are going fast as the hottest fundraising event of this cold winter is approaching fast. The 16th annual Soup’s On! scholarship fundraising luncheon is taking place Friday Jan. 26/2018 at St. Kevin Parish hall (303 Niagara St.)  in Welland.

The event features soup samplings prepared by culinary students from local secondary schools, Niagara College’s culinary program and Stephanie, The Lunch Lady.

“The $10 ticket price for an all-you-can-eat, soup-and-bread meal has not changed since the event began,” said organizer Joe Barkovich in a press release.

There are three sittings for the luncheon, 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. The noon sitting has sold out already.

“Soup’s On feeds a social justice scholarship fund,” the press release said. “The scholarship is available to graduating students from area high schools active in social service programs who plan to go into community service fields.”

“In 2017, four students from Blessed Trinity, Lakeshore and Notre Dame were chosen from applicants to received scholarships,” the release said.

This year’s soup menu features some wonderful creations from the soup prep teams:
