St. Catharines welcomes major downtown investment from Accenture

City of St. Catharines press release – The City of St. Catharines has attracted a major investment from global professional services company Accenture, with the opening of their new offices at 80 King St., in the downtown.

Mayor Walter Sendzik and other dignitaries attended a grand opening on Wednesday for Accenture’s new Intelligent Operations Centre. Spanning 68,000 square feet, in the former Core Bloc building, the centre is the third of its kind in Canada, with other locations in Thorold and Fredericton, New Brunswick. Accenture has approximately 5,000 employees in Canada including 600 in Niagara, who support regional and global clients. The company plans to create an additional 100 jobs by 2021 with roles in marketing, sales, customer care and IT support.

“It is not often that you see a Fortune 500 company make a commitment the way Accenture has in St. Catharines and we are thankful for the impressive new space and opportunities they are creating in our city,” said Mayor Walter Sendzik. “Our staff, along with our partners at Niagara Region, have worked with Accenture for more than two years to find an ideal location to expand their operations. Accenture, a global professional services company, offers services that include strategy, consulting, as well as digital, technology and operations solutions. A Fortune Global 500 company and one of Canada’s top 100 employers for ten consecutive years, Accenture’s new “Niagara North” location in St. Catharines will include amenities for employees such as wellness rooms, a mother’s room, a meditation and prayer room, as well as a café, a games room and a fitness room.
