Sweet sounds for Chorus Niagara’s 12th Annual Singathon

Chorus Niagara performed a five hour marathon of music Saturday at their 12th Annual Singathon at Seaway Mall.

Seaway Mall was treated to a five hour singing marathon Saturday Feb. 10/2018 as Chorus Niagara presented its 12th annual Singathon Fundraiser.

The fundraiser is to help raise funds for the Chorus Niagara concerts which take place at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre in St. Catharines.

“The funds raised through this Singathon do go into our general budget to help us to be able to perform at the Performing Arts Centre,” Claudia Meyer, one of Chorus Niagara’s Singathon chairs said. “It’s live music, it pays for soloists and the orchestra when we do our performances.”

Now in its 54th season, Chorus Niagara is the premier Niagara Region Choir drawing its membership from throughout the Niagara Peninsula.

Chorus Niagara supports Canadian music through various initiatives. Chorus Niagara has been responsible for launching the careers of several Canadian soloist.  Community outreach is a major priority for Chorus Niagara, working with local high schools as well as a Chorus Niagara Children’s Choir allowing local children to participate in the choral experience.

“Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us over the years,” Meyer said. “We always seem to surpass our goal though $55,000 seems a high number to make all this happen, the community has stepped up every time in the past.”
