Two more in the win column for Whalers

Niagara Whalers logoThe Niagara Whalers have had a winning weekend at home this weekend against Oshawa on Sunday night and Totenham on Friday night.

In action Sunday Dec. 16/2018 they earned a 6 – 4 win over the Oshawa Riverkings.

The Whalers ran away with the scoring in the first period taking a 4 – 0 lead. Dante Copps netted two, Brenden Tripi and Kurt Villani singles.

In the second period, the Riverkings lead the scoring netting three goals to the Whalers one. Andrew Ferlatte scored the Whalers goal. Jarra Shifara scored twice for Oshawa, Ryan Dreossi netted a single.

Ryan Dreossi scored his second of the night for Oshawa in the third, Jamey Lauzon netted one more for the Whalers bringing the score to 6 – 4 for the Whalers.

The games three stars are:

  1. Austin Dero, Niagara Whalers, with 61 saves for a 0.938 sv%
  2. Jarra Shifara, Oshawa Riverkings, with two goals and two assists
  3. Dante Copps, Niagara Whalers, with two goals

In action in Port Colborne Friday Dec. 14/2018 the Whalers outdid the Totenham Steam at the scoreboard with a 9 – 1 win.

Whaler goals came from Bryce Martin and Kurt Villani for two each, Mitchell Bonollo, Andrew Ferlatte, Nick Sacco, Dante Copps and Tanner Ferreira.

The Niagara Whalers will be finishing out the 2018 part of the season on Friday, Dec. 21/2018, in a home game at 7:30 p.m. against the Niagara-on-the-Lake Nationals.
