United Way Niagara announced its 2019 campaign goal last Tuesday, Sept. 10/2019 at a kickoff breakfast at Club Roma in St. Catharines.

“Food insecurity is a big issue in Niagara (over 50,000 local people are food insecure) and it’s one of 6 issues we will be talking about during the campaign,” a United Way Niagara press release said.  “The six #unignorable issues we are focusing on during our campaign are: poverty, homelessness, hunger (food insecurity), domestic violence, mental illness and social isolation.”

The 2019 campaign chair announced this year’s goal of $5, 250, 000.

In a statement she said: “The 2019 campaign has just kicked off and we are confident that we can reach our $5,250,000 goal. The success of the campaign relies on the support of many stakeholders – donors, volunteers, workplaces, sponsors and labour representatives – working together to make our community the best it can be.”

“Every fall, United Way makes a public appeal for support to ensure each of these 100+ vital community programs, services, and special initiatives continue, assisting the most vulnerable in Niagara,” she said.

United Way Niagara raises funds that help many programs in Niagara help people. A complete list of programs receiving funding from United Way Niagara can be found on their website: https://www.unitedwayniagara.org/how-we-help/our-priorities.
