Unlicensed cab driver charged with sexual assualt

A 39-year-old man is facing charges after a woman was sexually assaulted in St. Catharines.

On Sunday Apr. 15/2018 at approximately 12:45 a.m., an unlicensed cab picked up a female in the St. Paul Street and Ontario Street area in St. Catharines.

The driver took the female to a parking lot in the area of Bunting Road and Welland Ave where she was sexually assaulted.

As a result of an investigation by the Niagara Regional Police Service Sexual Assault Unit, a suspect was identified and arrested.

39-year-old Mahmoud Al Arag of St. Catharines is facing the alleged charge of:

  • Sexual Assault Section 271 C.C.

Al Arag was held in custody pending a bail hearing on Monday Apr. 16/2018.
