Wainfleet, Fort Erie lift burn bans, Pelham’s continues

The Town of Fort Erie and the Township of Wainfleet have lifted burn bans this week, the burn ban in Pelham remains in effect.

On Monday July 23/2018, the Township of Wainfleet lifted the burn ban including “all recreational fires as well as open/controlled burns,” the Township’s website said.

“We will continue to monitor over the course of the summer and will enact a ban again in the future if the need arises.”

The Town of Fort Erie lifted their ban on Wednesday July 25/2018.

“Due to the significant amount of rain the Town of Fort Erie has received in the past few days, the Town of Fort Erie Fire Department is comfortable that this amount of rain will help prevent any fires from starting or spreading out of control and has lifted the Fire Ban,” a press release from the Town of Fort Erie said. “Residents and visitors to the Town of Fort Erie can now resume open-air burning including recreational fires, consumer fireworks and other types of outdoor burning.”

The Town of Fort Erie will continue monitoring conditions over the summer and may issue burn bans in the future if necessary.
