Wainfleet volunteer, Rhoda Wills, was presented with a plaque by Mayor Jeffs during the Tuesday May 9 council meeting in recognition of her dedication and selfless service to the Township.

After over two decades of maintaining the gardens at Town Hall, Mrs. Wills has decided to step down and enjoy her retirement.

“It’s been a pleasure to do the work and look after the flower beds,” Mrs. Wills said. “I’ve really enjoyed it and I’d still be doing it if I could. I may see about helping the next person who takes over.”

Over the years, Mrs. Wills’ flair with flowers and plants has become a source of pride not only for municipal staff, but also for residents.

“We have had the most beautiful gardens in the Region right here in Wainfleet,” said Wainfleet Mayor April Jeffs during the presentation. “I’ve often driven past the Township and seen Rhoda working her magic. We can’t thank her enough.”
