Weekend of losses for Junior Canadians

Welland Junior Canadians logoThe Welland Junior Canadians have had a weekend of losses this past weekend. First the lost to the Caledonia Corvairs 7 – 5 on Saturday Oct. 7/2017 in Caledonia, then St. Catharines beat them 4 – 1 Sunday Oct. 8/2017 in Welland.

In Saturday’s game the Junior Canadian goals came from:

  • Maliek Powell assisted by Daelyn Minovski.
  • Jordan Simpson assisted by Liam Anderson and Tanner McEachern.
  • Brendan Rylott, unassisted.
  • Noah Bollert assisted by Alexander Dameski.
  • Anthony Grigg assisted Brendan Rylott.

In Sunday’s action against the St. Catharines Falcons, Michael Davis led off the scoring for the Falcon’s at 3:16 assisted by Matt Busby and Lucas Smilsky. Tanner Ferreirra scored a short-handed goal at 5:01 assisted by Tanner Main and Zach Lawrence giving the Falcons a 2 – 0 lead.

Gianluca Fuoco’s short-handed goal at 4:51 in the second period, assisted by Lucas Smilsky and Tristan deJong gave the Falcons a 3 – 0 lead going into the third period.

Michael Davies added the Falcon’s fourth goal at 1:53 in the third assisted by Jaleel Adams and Lucas Smilsky. Ryan Israel put Welland on the board with a power play goal at 17:51 assisted by Maliek Powell.

The Welland Junior Canadians next see action Friday Oct. 13/2017 in Niagara Falls against the Canucks then back on home ice Sunday Oct. 15/2017 against the Thorold Blackhawks.
