Whalers blow out Hurricanes with 15 – 3 win

Niagara Whalers logoThe Niagara Whalers had another big win in GMHL hockey action Friday Oct. 20/2017 with a 15 – 3 win over the visiting Tilsonburg Hurricanes.

Zach Main led off Niagara’s scoring attack at 9:15, assists tent to Daniel Pugliese and Brandon Lindberg. Tilsonburg tied it up at 11:06 with a power play goal from Griffin Sinden assisted by Maxsim Korobeinikov. David Christopher added the second Whalers goal at 13:56 assisted by Nick Pastorious and Daniel Pugliese. Brandon Lindberg connected for Niagara at 15:36, assists went to Zach Main and Alex Remedios. Jesse Masterson added the fourth Whaler goal at 17:50 assisted by Nick Pastorious and David Christopher. Steven Farano’s power play goal at 18:52, assisted by Zach Main and Patrick Dejardins,  gave Niagara a 5 – 1 lead to begin the second period.

In the second period, Tilsonburg scored first at 6:27, Maxsim Korobeinikov scored his second, assists went to Griffin Sinden and Kyran Karol.

Niagara scored the next 5 goals.

Jake Lloyd connected at 9:54 assisted by Steven Farano and Brandon Lindberg. David Christopher scored a power play goal at 13:17 assisted by Jesse Masterson and Daniel Pugliese. Steven Farano scored at 15:27 assisted by Brandon Lindberg. Lindberg scored at 15:46 assisted by Farano and Zach Main. David Christopher scored his hat trick goal at 17:28 assisted by Nick Pastorious and Patrick Desjardins.

Tilsonburg’s third and last goal of the game came on the power play at 19:41 in the second period from Riley Ellis assisted by Maxsim Korobeinikov and Griffin Sinden.

Leading 10 – 3, the Whalers added five more unanswered goals in the third period.

Zach Main connected with a short-handed goal at 3:10 assisted by Jesse Masterson. Brandon Lindberg scored his hat trick goal shortly afterwards at 4:33. Steven Farano netted his hat trick goal while the Whalers were short-handed at 5:22, assists went to Charles Jensen and Brandon Lindberg. Zach Main’s hat trick goal came at 12:19 assisted by Jesse Masterson. John Swiatek finished off the Whaler scoring spree at 19:27.

The three stars of the game came from the Niagara Whalers:

  • Star #1: Brandon Lindberg with three goals and four assists.
  • Star #2: Zach Main with three goals and three assists.
  • Star #3: Steven Farano with three goals and two assists.
