Whalers dominate Lakers at the scoreboard

The Niagara Whalers picked up a big win with a 13 – 1 blowout over the visiting London Lakers Friday Sept. 29/2017 in GMHL hockey action in Port Colborne.

The scoring melee started early for the Whalers with Zach Main connecting 38 seconds into the first period. Assists came from Patrick Desjardins and Daniel Pugliese. The Whalers next scoreboard entry came at 10:23 with Zach Main’s second goal of a hat trick first period, assisted by Patrick Desjardins and Nick Pastorious. David Christopher connected at 11:38 assisted by Sam Martin and Charles Jensen. Zach Main’s hat trick goal came at 16:54 assisted by Nick Pastorious and Jakob Reeves, giving Niagara a 4 – 0 lead going into the second period.

Niagara added nine more goals in the second period taking a 13 – 0 lead. The first goal came 16 seconds into the period from Jakob Reeves with assists going to Nick Pastorious and Patrick Desjardins. Jakob Reeves added his second goal at 7:15 assisted by Zach Main and Nick Pastorious. Nick Pastorious added a goal at 7:53 assisted by Jakob Reeves. Frolov Mikhail added another for the Whalers at 9:55 assisted by Jesse Masterson and Dimitri Beer. Then Jesse Masterson added on at 10:28 assisted by Dimitri Beer and Pontus Gravander. David Christopher added his second of the night on the power play at 13:26 with assists

from Kellan Rosenbaum and Logan Aprea. Frolov Mikhail added his second shortly after at 13:41 assisted by Dimitri Beer and Pontus Gravander. Jesse Masterson added his second goal of the night at 16:32 assisted by Nick Pastorious and Patrick Desjardins. John Swiatek ended the Whalers scoring spree at 19:44 assisted by David Christopher and Kellan Rosenbaum.

London’s Parker Gee scored their lone goal late in the third period on a power play, assists went to Eisai Arai and Chris Spicer.

The three stars of the game were from the Niagara Whalers:

  • Star #1: Nick Pastorious with one goal and five assists.
  • Star #2: Zach Main with three goals and one assist.
  • Star #3: Jakob Reeves with two goals and two assists.
