Whalers move up to third place after road wins

Niagara Whalers logoAfter three games on the road in the past week, the Niagara Whalers have moved up to third place in the South Division standings in the GMHL.

Friday Nov. 24/2017 the Whalers blew away the Tilsonburg Hurricanes with a 9 – 5 win in Tilsonburg. Earlier in the week on Saturday Nov. 18/2017 they sank the Lakers in London with a whopping 10 – 0 win and then on Sunday Nov. 19/2017 they dealt up a 4 – 1 win over the Windsor Aces in Windsor.

In the most recent game in Tilsonburg, David Christopher was a star of the game for his three goal, four assist effort. Jake Lloyd also earned a start for his two goal, three assist effort.

Niagara was actually behind 3 – 0 at the end of the first period and behind 4 – 3 at the end of the second. A six goal scoring spree in the third period gave them the win over the Hurricanes.

In the Sunday Nov. 19/2017 Niagara went ahead 3 – 0 in the second period after a scoreless first period. In the third period, each team had a goal each for the final 4 – 1 score.

Whalers goaltender Austin Dero was one of the stars of the game with 32 saves giving him a0.970 sv% and Nick Pastorious was another star for his one goal, one assist effort.

In London Saturday Nov. 18/2017 the Whalers had a 3 – 0 lead at the end of the first, a 6 – 0 lead at the end of the second and won 10 – 0.

The games three stars were all from the Niagara Whalers, David Christopher for his one goal and six assists effort, Nick Pastorious for his three goal and two assists effort and goalie Holden King for the shutout after making 18 saves.

The Niagara Whalers are next in action Friday Dec. 1/2017 at 7:30 p.m. in Port Colborne. They’ll be facing the first place Kingsville Kings who are currently ten points ahead of them in the South Division Stnadings, http://gmhl.net/ .
