Whalers take round two against Kings

The Niagara Whalers have taken the quarter finals in the 2017/18 GMHL Russell Cup Playoffs winning three games straight against the Kingsville Kings who finished the season one with one point more than the Whalers for the South Division’s second place spot.

In game one of the series in Kingsville Friday Mar. 2/2018, the Whalers won 4 – 3 in overtime

Whaler goals in game one came from Ethan Spaxman, Jakob Reeves and Frolov Mikhail.

Game two of the series ended in a 7 – 2 win for the Whalers Saturday Mar. 3/2018 in Port Colborne.

The Whalers ended the first period with a commanding 5 – 0 lead and the lead was to 7 – 2 by the end of the second period.

Niagara’s goal scorers were: Jake Lloyd for two, David Christopher for two, Zach Main, Frolov Mikhail and Patrick Desjardins.

In game three Sunday Mar. 4/2018 in Kingsville, the Whalers won 5 – 1.

The goal scorers for the Whalers were: Zach Main and Jake Lloyd each scored two each, Nick Pastorious came in with a single.

The schedule for the Niagara Whalers South Division Final against the first place St. George Ravens should be announced later this week.
